Were are happy to announce that we have begun to offer Bamboo Removal and Bamboo Containment services and consultation to people who need to get a handle on their bamboo plants. If you have existing bamboo and are worried that it is going to spread or run beyond its desired area, we can provide the know how and experience and tools to do the job right. If you need to contain the plant we can assure that it stays where it was meant to. As well we can help you remove bamboo from any area, big or small! Give us a call or write us an email at info@bamboooasis.com.

When we remove bamboo we make sure to look for all of the runners (chutes) that may have spread out across your garden or lawn and make sure to dig them up so they can’t come back. If you need to remove Bamboo there is good news, it really doesn’t grow very deep into the ground so you can track down the roots and take it out without an overly laborius process. Some people try to simply cutting back bamboo to keep it in check but that won’t work, removal of the rhysome is the only way to stop it from sending up chutes and spreading out.

The cool temperatures and wet weather of the fall welcomes in a special time of the year at the Bamboo Oasis…digging and potting season! Now is the time when we take advantage of the new shoots that have spread out from the mother plants and put them into pots. It was a long and hot summer and our plants are ready for the fall rains to quench their thirst after the dry months. Just yesterday, David was out early, carefully preparing pots and carefully placing the newly formed root balls into them.

In the past we would sell bare root plants to customers at a discounted rate because we didn’t have to do the extra work of putting them into pots and all of the continuing maintenance that the plants require (i.e. watering, fertilizing). We quickly realized that this was not the best option for our clients though as a bare root plants can be shocked too much by removing them from the soil and may not survive.

By only offering potted plants we can guarantee the health of the plant that we pass on to customers. This makes us happy because we don’t have to worry about the plant’s survival and it makes the customer happy because they don’t have to bring in a dead plant for us to replace.

If you are planning on digging and potting some of your existing bamboo, or are thinking of planting some new bamboo plants, now is the time to do it. Cool and wet conditions in the fall are ideal for making sure the plants are not harmed in the replanting process. If your root ball is going to out of the ground for an extended period make sure you hose it down well to keep it moist and healthy. As well, make sure you use high quality soil when replanting so the new plant has the best chance of survival.

Thanks for visiting us here at the Bamboo Oasis. Check back here periodically for more info about bamboo and if you wish, register with the site for information on upcoming bamboo sales and events.
